What is Eduroam?

Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure worldwide federated network access service developed for the international research and education community. This secure, wireless network is available to CSUF students, faculty, and staff. If you are a student registered on the CSUF Student Portal and want to connect to Eduroam, then please read below.

On June 8, 2016, the CSUF changed its campus Wi-Fi from CSUF-Titans to Eduroam. The benefit of connecting to the Eduroam network is the ability to access the Internet at other participating institutions globally. There is no need to enter your username and password in any online web form. Your device will automatically detect any Eduroam network and connect automatically. The most important benefit is that this service is free for all as per a global agreement.

In simple terms, Eduroam is a secure and trusted wireless network that was developed by the Klaas Wierenga to provide remaining connectivity to research and academic institutions across the world. Eduroam is based on the most secure encryption and authentication standards and requires the use of 802.1x which provides end-to-end encryption to ensure that your private user credentials are only available to your home institution

How to Connect to Eduroam CSUF?

There are different types of Eduroam sets up that you can use for different types of devices. The Connection process is almost similar for all types of devices. You can set up the below devices to eduroam.

  • Mac OS Setup

We are sharing, how to connect your Android mobile. You may follow the simple steps given below to connect with the Eduroam WIFI network on the CSUF campus.

  1. Turn on the WIFI on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the Eduroam network.
  3. Select PEAP under the EAP method.
  4. Enter your full campus email address and campus password.
  5. If you see a prompt to enter a domain, enter fullerton.edu.
  6. Under CA Certificate, choose Don’t Validate. Then tap Advanced.
  7. Check that MSCHAPv2 is selected under Phase 2 Authentication. Then tap Connect.
  8. Your setup is complete now.

Now whenever you come in the range of any Eduroam wireless network at any Eduroam-enabled campus, your device will be automatically connected to that network.

If you have set up your device to connect with Eduroam, you can now connect to any Eduroam-enabled campus worldwide. Having started in Europe, Eduroam has rapidly expanded throughout the research and education community and is now available in 106 territories worldwide and emerging pilot locations.
