What is UGA Athena Portal?
Athena is an online web portal developed for the students of the University of Georgia. Through the Athena portal, different student-related information has been put in a single place and students can access useful services through a single login.

Athena portal works similarly to a student information system where students can access services such as registration for classes, online fee payment, accessing and updating students’ records, accessing financial and academic aid information, etc.
How to access the UGA Athena portal?
Students can access the Athena portal in different ways.
- Through MyUGA portal
Visit the My UGA portal at https://my.uga.edu/ and click the Athena image link on the left side. - Through official website
Visit the University of Georgia’s official web portal at https://www.uga.edu/. Move down the homepage and click the Athena link under the RESOURCES FOR CURRENT STUDENTS section. - Through the official Athena web portal
Visit the Athena UGA web portal directly at http://athena.uga.edu/ or click the alternate link https://sis-ssb-prod.uga.edu/
UGA Athena Login – Student Information system
Students can access all available helpful academic and other resources after login into the Athena portal. Please follow the below login steps.
Step 1: First visit the Athena portal web portal by using the above-mentioned guides or by clicking here. You will find the Athena homepage on the screen (as shown below).

Step 2: Click the Login to Athena link on the Athena portal web page or click the Sign In link at the top right corner. A single-sign-on login form will appear on the screen (as shown below).

This login is using the single-sign-on service and you will be logged in to all services of the University of Georgia through a single login.
Step 3: Enter your Username and Password in this SSO login form and press the Login button to access your Athena portal.
How to find my Athena portal Username and Password?
All students are required to enter their username and password to log in to their UGA Athena account. If you are a new student and don’t have an idea about your username and password then you can check the below given helpful information to find your username and password.
Username: A MyID is assigned to all students, employees, and staff members. This MyID is used as the Username to access the Athena portal and other universities’ applications and services.
Once a student applies for admission to the University of Georgia, an email is sent from [email protected] to the registered email ID of students including their MyID. MyID is a unique identification name and can not be changed.
Password: In the email, Students get a link to create a password along with the MyID. This link will look like “https://myidprofile.uga.edu/passwordReset/initial”. Enter your MyID and click the verify MyID link located at the bottom right corner. On the next page, students can create a new password.
Note: A new password must be 10 to 16 characters long and must have at least one upper-case letter, one lower-case letter, one number, and one special character.

MyID Profile
A separate secure application “MyID Profile” has been developed for the password management and profile setting of MyID. Through the MyID Profile, Students can perform several below-mentioned important tasks.
- Change your password.
- Reset your password.
- Get a passcode on the verified mobile number.
- Set up the secret questions, etc.
How to set up a MyID profile?
New students must complete a one-time MyID Profile setup process. It will help students to reset their passwords if they forgot them. Please check the below steps to set up your MyID Profile.
Step 1: Visit the MyID Profile web page at https://myidprofile.uga.edu/ and enter your MyID in the username section and your newly created password to log in.
Step 2: Now you will have to complete two steps.
- Set up security questions.
- Setup verification method.
i-Setup your security questions:
Click the “your security questions” link. Write answers to the given security questions that you can remember easily. Click the save security questions button to complete the security question setup. Your questions and answers have been updated.
ii-Setup your identification verification option:
You will get the below-mentioned three options to set up your identification verification method.
- Verify with your mobile device.
- Verify with an external email account.
- Verify with security questions.
You can use any one or multiple options from the above list.
If you want to use the verify with mobile device option…
- Select verify with your mobile device option.
- Enter your mobile number on the next screen and press the Register Mobile Phone button.
- You will receive a six-digit passcode on your mobile phone.
- Enter this passcode in the given space and press the Verify Passcode button.
- Your verification is completed now.
Similarly, you can set up the verification with the external email account option.
Now every time you want to reset your password, you will receive a passcode on your mobile number and email address and you will have to use this passcode to reset your password.
How can I reset my password?
- In order to change your password, visit the MyID Profile website and click the Forgot your Password link.
- You will be redirected to the password reset web page. You may also visit the password reset page directly at myidprofile.uga.edu/reset.
- Enter your MyID and press the Verify MyID button.
- On the next screen, enter your old password and create a new password.
- Click the Change Password button to save the new password.
UGA Athena login for off-campus students?
All applications on the campus are using the secure campus network but if you are currently off-campus but still want to access your Athena account then you will have to enroll in the two steps authentication process.
To maintain the security of the system and data privacy, this two-factor login solution has been introduced to access your important applications such as Microsoft Office 365, Athena, OneDrive, UGAMail, eLearning Commons, etc if you are outside the campus.
How Duo factor authentication works:
- In the first step, you will enter your MyID and Password to log in.
- In the second step, you will have to verify your identity through a security code sent to your enrolled device.
Students must enroll their devices in ArchPass and complete the setup with the help of the Duo mobile app. Please check the below steps.
Steps to enroll your smartphone or Tablet in the ArchPass:
Step 1: First of all download the “Duo Mobile app” by Duo Security, Inc. on your device by searching it on the Play store or App store or through the below-given direct links.

Step 2: Visit the Duo self-service portal and log in by using your MyID and password. Alternatively, visit the direct link http://archpass.uga.edu/ if the previous link is not working.
Step 3: Click the Start Setup button and select the device from your Mobile Phone, Tablet, and Landline that you want to enroll in the duo factor authentication.
Step 4: Enter your phone number and phone type and click the Continue button.
Step 5: In the next step, click the I Have Duo Mobile Installed button. Activate Duo mobile app through a QR code or activation link.
Step 6: In the last step, set up your device to receive a security code while logging in to your Athena UGA portal if you are off-campus.

All students can download the official UGA mobile app and access student-related services, campus resources, academic resources, etc on the go. The app is available for both Android and iOS platforms and anyone can download the app by searching on Google Play or the App store.
