UGC NET Exam Pattern 2021: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given the responsibility to conduct the UGC NET exam to check the candidate’s eligibility for the post of ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ both in Indian universities and colleges.
From June 2020 onwards, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment/ Minority Affair shall also conduct the following Fellowships program recruitment through the NTA UGC NET 2021 exam.:
- National Fellowship for Scheduled Students
- National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes
- Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority candidates
UGC-NET Exam Pattern 2021
NTA UGC NET exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) having objective types of questions with multiple-choices.
The UGC NET June 2021 Exam pattern consists of two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2. There will be 50 Multiple-choice questions in Paper-1 and 100 multiple-choice questions in Paper-2.
Candidates will have to attempt both papers simultaneously, there will be no break between both papers. Candidates will get 3 hours to complete both papers. There is no fixed timing for any paper.
There will be no negative marking in the UGC NET Exam and for each correct answer 2 marks will be awarded.

Important points about UGC NET 2021 Exam:
- UGC NET Exam will be an online objective type test
- The total duration for the main exam will be 3 hours.
- There is no separate timing and candidate can attempt any paper as per his/her choice in 3 hours
- Candidates will have to attempt 150 questions carrying 300 marks
- For each correct answer, the candidate will get 2 marks.
- Candidates can attempt all questions in the exam.
- No marks will be given for questions Unanswered/Marked for Review.
- There is no negative marking for an incorrect response.

Paper-1:
There will be a total of 10 sections in the NTA UGC NET Paper-1. Paper-1 is designed with the questions that are intended to assess the teaching/ research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate.

In Paper-2, candidate domain knowledge will be assessed based on the subject selected by the candidate. Candidates must check the UGC NET exam syllabus for the better preparation of their subjects.
