myUHN Patient Portal login and Other Systems Back Online After a System Outage

MyUHN Patient Portal (Mychart), online website, and other systems were facing system outage due to an unknown IT issue. All systems and the patient portal are again back online.

University Health Network shared this information on their social media X handle. University Health Network has clarified that it was not a cyber attack event but an ongoing Code Grey network outage. UHN IT staff has already identified the issue and the issue has been resolved.

UHN shared multiple tweets related to this system outage issue.

Please expect appointment or service delays at Toronto General, Toronto Western, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre; and Toronto Rehab due to an unexpected system outage. At this time, it appears the situation is not related to a cyber event. We will provide another update at 9am.

After a few hours, the University Health Network again tweeted and shared that the patient portal, website, and other systems were still experiencing the outage issues[2][3][4]. UHN shared more information about the issue, what causing the system outage, and what services are affected in multiple tweets as mentioned below.

UPDATE: UHN continues to experience an ongoing Code Grey network outage across sites. The outage is impacting the UHN website, patient portal + patient record systems. UHN’s IT staff have identified the source of the problem and are working to restore systems safely. (1/3)

Finally, after 3 more hours, UHN again tweeted and shared that all systems have been restored including the myUHN patient portal and official UHN website. Patients can now again access their accounts and start scheduling their appointments[5].

We’ve restored our health information system and all other systems are coming back online. myUHN Patient Portal + http://uhn.ca are back in service. You may experience appointment delays for remainder of day as backlogs are cleared. Thank you for your understanding.

What is the MyUHN patient portal?

MyUHN is the official patient portal of the University Health Network. Patients at All UHN hospitals and clinics are using this patient portal and its online services including online appointment scheduling, bill payment, prescription refills, check-in, sending secure messages, checking lab test results, etc.

MyUHN also known as UHN Mychart has been developed with the help of the popular electronic health record MyCHART. Mychart is the most popular healthcare product used by most healthcare organizations.

Patients can access the below services through the MyUHN portal.

  • Manage appointments and update your information.
  • Access your UHN health record and Ontario lab results. This includes lab results from over 150 hospitals, and community and public health labs stored in the Ontario Laboratories Information System (OLIS).
  • Have greater interaction with your care team.
  • Confirm and update your demographic details such as address, health card number, and emergency contact.
  • Update your health information, such as allergies and medications.
  • Check-in and complete questionnaires before your appointment.
  • Send messages directly to select clinics and myUHN Support[6].

How to login to MyUHN Mychart?

Accessing the MYUHN is straightforward if patients have already registered an online account.

To log in, visit the MyUHN Patient portal at www.myuhn.ca, enter your Mychart username and password, and press the Sign In button to access your patient account.

In case the patient forgot the login credentials then use the login and password recovery service available through the MyUHN login page. Patients can easily recover their accounts.

How to create a new MyUHN account?

If patients get an activation code then the account registration process is very easy. Just visit the MyUHN account activation page. Enter your activation code and all other required information. After that patients can set up their Mychart account by creating a new username and password. This process takes only five minutes to complete.
